1998 - 400 sq.ft.
paper, found electric motor, sound recording, and heated oil aromatic interactive installation. The paper 'forest' was constructed from image-only scraps of photos torn from a stack of National Geographics over 50 feet tall. The multi-sensory and interactive room was completely filled with non-text-sorted recycled paper, floor to ceiling, wall to wall. Participants interacted with the paper as it was navigated. Small household appliance motors were hidden inside the paper to make the entire forest kinetic. The motors were controlled by a set of rheostat switches played like a visual keyboard from an adjacent room with video surveillance of the forest. Self-made, pre-recorded sounds were played, and arranged aromatics were designed to be incorporated in the room.
